Sports Centre League 2017

The start of the season got underway last weekend with the rescheduled Sports Centre league that was postponed from June.  Only 4 teams swimming in this round - CABSC, Sherwood, Sutton and Falcon.  It was a good all round performance from the stingrays with some promising times being swum so early on in the season which is where we need to be with Arena league on the horizon.  Making his debut for CABSC was Ben Pierpoint and Mum Charly joins our willing team of team keepers.  There were some good wins in the relays and a closely fought battle with Sutton in the cannon brought the evening to a close.  Amy Mead brought us back into contention but we were just pipped to the post.  Final scores were Sutton 256, CABSC 231, Sherwood 219 and Falcon 170.  Well done swimmers and thanks as always to our poolside team - Mark, Lucy, Katey, Liz, Charly and Simon.  Next round is Saturday 23rd September 2017 at Bingham where we will be hosting so volunteers are needed!  Full results are on the results page .

Please check out the club shop page. Order lines are now open till September 10th 2017 for guaranteed pre-Christmas kit orders. There are also a couple of new items on the list.

New record set at Scottish Nationals

At the Scottish Nationals over the summer, Amy Mead improved the 14 year old 100m breastroke record that she set earlier in the year.  Amy swam a long course PB of 1.14.34 so the record now stands at 1.12.60.  Well done Amy.

Summer skills and drills camp 2017

Congratulations and thanks to all those swimmers who attended this summer's drills and skills camp at Bingham Leisure Centre. The week long camp covered all '5' strokes focusing on starts, turns, finishes and stroke technique.  Ages ranged from 9 to 32 but, with a qualified coach at the end of every lane, there was plenty of advice and feedback to each swimmer.

Many thanks to Speedo UK for the kit donations and to coaches, Nigel, Karl, Dan and Jess for giving up their time and passing on their knowledge and experience to the swimmers.

Hopefully all those who attended the camp can now take their newly acquired (or refreshed) skills into the 2017/18 season. Photos are from the final session on the Friday.

Go Stingrays!

Mark, Head Coach.
