National Arena League 2017 Round 2

Saturday evening saw the team travel down to Corby East Midlands International Pool to complete in Round 2 of the Arena League in what was on paper, and proved to be on the night, a very hard draw.  Hampered by some key ommissions and several underlying injuries, every race proved challenging and points were at a premium.

Special mention goes to the 9/11 boys, Noah, Cam, George and James B who secured 29 out of the 30 points on offer in their age group,  Noah claimed two individual victories and Cam followed with a 1st and a 2nd place.  Victories were rare on the night, so in addition to the above, well done to James C (100BK) and Anastassia (50BR) on their wins.  Will T produced another fine display in the 100 Fly, narrowly coming 2nd which was the position also achieved by the Mens Open Medley Relay, Martin (100Fly), Becky  (100 BK) and Jacob (100BK).  Final points were:

 1st Northampton A                          221

City of Norwich                                 173

Moderians                                          126

CABSC                                                   116

Lincoln Vulcans                                 115

While there were other solid performances, what this gala has illustrated is that although we have come a long way in the past few years, to compete at this level, it will take a lot of hard work by both the swimmers and the Club.  We need to be (and will be!) better prepared than ever for the final round on the 9th December in order to do ourselves credit for all the hard work we have done to date.

Go Stingrays!
