Backstroke ledges

Good news everyone!  New equipmet for our Stingrays is on the way.  Big thanks to everyone who dug deep for the Peaty sweepstake.  The funds raised (£70) have now gone towards the purchase of 2 FINIS backstroke ledges.  The rest of the funds have been made up from our Easy fundraising donations.  Again thanks to everyone who uses this as it has all helped immensely. If you haven't signed up for Easy fundraising please do, it's a nice, simple and FREE way to help us raise funds.

CABSC Competition

As all you swimmers and families have your exciting summer holidays, staycations and day trips planned, why not send in great shots of you (or something) in your CABSC shirt  on location via messenger.  We will have several categories, most exotic , funniest, cutest, most unusual etc.  They will occasionally feature on the facebook page, just using your first names and where you are.  Please make sure you wear shorts/jammers with the t-shirt.  The best one of the season will receive a prize.  This is our canine coach, Albus, kicking it off.

Derby & Notts Final 2018

On a barmy Saturday evening our youngsters and supporters travelled to Bramcote Leisure Centre to compete in the final of the Derby & Notts, Junior Swimming League.

The evening started off with a parade of the swimmers around the pool where we undoubtedly won the best dressed team and noisiest supporters awards (none given, but we would have won them).

As with the previous two rounds the 12 year old boys got us off to a great start, winning their 4 x 25m Medley Relay and there were further wins for Elliott (50 BF), Ruby (25 BR), James (50 BF & 50 BR), Cam (50 BR), Noah (50 FC) and those 12 year old boys again in the 4 x 25m Freestyle Relay.

Across the team the swimmers performed fantastically, there were a number of pbs in the individual events and some great relay performances. Although the quality of the opposition was high our swimmers raised their game with virtually every swimmer going faster in the relays on the night than in the earlier rounds.

It was great to see the supporters getting behind the team and making use of the inflatable clapping sticks and it was clear to see the enthusiasm rub off on the team.

Thanks, as always to support team, Lucy, Simon, Rob, Amanda and Rochelle and role on next year.

Go Stingrays

Derby & Notts Round 1

Saturday night saw a strong junior team travel to Worksop to compete against clubs from both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in round 1 of the Derby & Notts Junior Swimming League.  With many swimmers making their competition debuts it was good to see such a great team spirit on poolside ans strong support from the balcony.   We had first places and seconds with numerous great swims and PBS across the age groups. The score remained tight between us and a strong Bramcite team until the last event.  On the night it would be fair to say that we were just narrowly beaten by the better team.  As a result, round 2 now sees us in the same gala as Sutton A and Leander A. Given the high level of competition expected it is crucial for the team that all swimmers asked, make themselves available and be prepared to swim their best.  Many thanks to all the poolside support and Lucy Berry for her organisational skills.  Go Stingrays.

Midland Youth Championships

We had a small squad of County swimmers qualify for the East Midlands Youth Championships at Ponds Forge last weekend and a number of other CABSC swimmers were there representing NOVA Centurion.

Congratulations to William Halstead who narrowly missed out on a gold medal to Nottingham NOVA rival Joseph Kingsland in the 200m breaststroke.  Will swam 2.41.28 to Kingslands 2.41.13 - so close.  Will also finished 4th in the 100m breaststroke final and made the final of the 100m back.  Also making the medals representing NOVA was William Turnock who finished 2nd in the 200m fly with a fantastic PB from heat to final, Will also made the 100m fly and 200 Back final.  Frankie Berry qualified for the 200m breast final finishing 7th and Jacob Carrington qualified for the 100m back final but withdrew.  Elsie Moran, Lily Cherry, Jack Reddington, Joe McAllion, Jake Geary and Ben Pierpoint also represented the club.  Well done swimmers on a great achievement against some tough competition across the region

Also making finals representing NOVA were James Cox (100/200 Back),  Lottie Warsop (100 Back), Ella Croft (100/200 breast) and Amy Mead (100 Free/200 Breast/200IM).

The boys 14/16 relay team of William Halstead, Fabio Medri, Ben Pierpoint and Jack Edis represented the club in the Medley and Free relay events.
