New club record

Congratulations to Elliot Sibley who set 2 new records in the 11 year old boy age group at the Nova long course meet last weekend.  Elliot improved the time he had previously set in the 50m breaststroke, bringing the record down to 38.00 and also set a new record in the 200m breaststroke of 2.59.60 - the previous record had stood since 2011 (J Wakefield).  Well done Elliot.

Can we remind swimmers that any new club records should be emailed to Katey Cox - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Thank you.

National Arena League 2017 Round 1

This years Arena team got off to a great start in the first round draw at Cambridge last weekend.  It was always going to be a tough draw up against the big city teams - City of Milton Keynes, City of Peterborough B, City of Cambridge and Norwich Swans (Sherwood pulled out) but the team pulled out some good swims and relay performances to finish in 3rd place.  We had a number of our regular Arena swimmers missing which meant a few of the girls had to swim up an age group (well done Jenna Marriott, Ella Croft, Amy Mead and Anastassia Walker).   The competition was tough so we didn't have as many wins as we usually do but the boys 9/11 free and medley relays, Noah Rai (50 fly), Cameron Breedon (50 Breast) and Will Turnock (100 Fly) all came in first place giving us some valuable points to stay midway in the points.  Every point matters and a number of swimmers traveled all the way to swim one or two relays but this is vital to help the team get the maximum amount of points as we move through the league rounds.  Final scores on the night finished up Cambridge 262, City of Milton Keynes 237, CABSC 180, Norwich Swans 166, Peterborough B 149 and full results are on the website.  Thanks to everyone who came along on the bus to support us, to all those who officiated and to our poolside team.  Round 2 draw is on the National Arena League site but the venue is to be confirmed.  Great team work Stingrays.

Good luck to this years Arena team

The National Arena Swimming League gets underway this weekend.  CABSC will be competing in the Premier Division of the East Midlands Region and the first round draw will be at Cambridge.  We're drawn against Sherwood Colliery, Norwich Swans, City of Cambridge A, City of Milton Keynes and City of Peterborough B.  Notice the word 'city' appears in a lot of these teams so we are up against some big teams but lets hope CABSC can come away with a good points score which gives us a good draw for the next round.  Making their arena debut for CABSC this year are Matthew Cox, George Cummings, Ben Pierpoint, Charlotte Allbones, Ava Buxton, Joe McCallion, Annastasia Walker, Esme Warsop and Fiona Brown.  We wish the Stingrays team all the best of luck  and a safe trip down to Cambridge.  Report and results will follow next week.
