Derby & Notts league round 1

The club made a welcome return to this prestigious junior league and surpassed all expectations by coming first on the night, finishing 10 points ahead of a strong Dronfield team.

This was a superb team effort with everybody contributing.

Trailing early on it wasn't until race 41 (of 47) that we edged into the lead and it was still all to play for going into the final race of the evening, the mixed cannon. Safe takeovers and some fantastic sprinting saw us home to a memorable victory.

Special thanks go to the Edis family for delaying their Easter holidays for a day so that Jack could swim, Kya and Kris for making the mad Sheffield to Bramcote dash and for Megan Doherty s who stepped in at the last moment performing above even her coaches wildest expectations. Thanks also to the team managers, timekeepers and our vocal supporters high up in the galleries.

Lots of positives but more to do.

 Well done to all

Youth and Senior County Champs 2014

CABSC swimmers Rosie Rudin and Hannah Meek both claimed 5 first places each at the Youth and Senior County Champs over the weekend of 15/16th February at Beechdale (Rosie coming first in the 800m free in the age-group session). Rosie also finished second to Hannah in all of Hannah’s first places and came third in the 100m free!

In total, thirteen CABSC senior/youth swimmers competed in individual events over the weekend with strong contender Tom Roberts unfortunately having to withdraw following a shoulder injury. Some of these guys swam only once or twice and some seemed to be either in the pool or in line waiting to swim, but CABSC swimmers featured in the top 6 of every event except for the 50m free and 100m br. Amber Keegan achieved a second, third, fourth, 2 fifths and a sixth place; Jack Wilson got 2 seconds and 2 fifths; Jess Moore (girls captain) achieved third and sixth, Dan Moore (boys captain) got a fourth and Katie Loker claimed a sixth.  Five of our six entered relay teams also achieved a second, third and 3 fifth places, with additional help from Martin Cox, John Musson, Karl Morgan and Saffron Blackwood.

The rest of the CABSC team were Danielle Cherry, Felix Bamford, Becca Schinagl, Kate Scarborough, Nicole Goulding and Rosie Needham.

Thanks to Mark, Vicki and Emma for their poolside encouragement, and to our officials and volunteer stewards for representing the club and making it all possible.

Please visit Notts ASA’s website for full results and times and don’t forget to update any pb’s via the website link. Report from the Age-Group Counties to follow after the last session and relays, but results from CABSC swimmers are looking excellent after two long and tiring weekends!.
