First gala of the season for our younsters

A young and inexperienced team bravely ventured forth to Hucknall for the first gala of the year on Saturday 5th Jan. Due to most of the club being at the Boston Open Meet, the majority of this team had not swum in a proper gala before or done relays together, other than our Club Champs. And some of the boys had to swim up in age group too. Early nerves were obvious shown by a few silly DQ's in the first half and only 2 first places - we finished the first half in last place. NB. Apologies for the first DQ, my fault entirely due to a mistake in copying the program from 2012! But the swimmers got refocused and determined in the second half and we started to improve, getting 7 first places including the final cannon which was a really exciting nail-biting finale!

So congratulations to all swimmers, (even if you did get DQ'd its all good experience and you won't make those boobs again) you tried so hard, behaved beautifully on poolside, listened to instructions from Tom, Danielle and Rosie and supported each other's swims. We finished in a creditable 2nd place to a very happy Radford team who were the victors. The 2nd place trophy was collected by team captains for the night Georgia Corbett and Will Halstead.

Team was Lottie Farley, Lilly Cherry, Will Parker, Danny Rumble, Olivia Hooper, Chloe Goulding, Georgia Wilson, Ella Croft, Harry Brightman, Jamie Lodge, Holly Hughes, Freya White, Mia France, Will Halstead, Fabio Medri, Jacob Gaskill, Adam Bartlett, Hattie Adams and Georgia Corbett.

Thanks to Janet, Tom, Simon, Connie, Neil, Marc, Danielle and Rosie for helping on the night. Parents don't forget to claim any pb's via the website link - the results are on the results pages.

So please come along and join in our celebrations of a great year in the pool!

look forward to seeing you all there.

PS If anyone would like to volunteer to help man the raffle on the night, please let us know.

A massive thank you, to those swimmers who took part in the final round of the Arena league at Hucknall on Saturday evening.

We had some fantastic individual performances on the night but it was the all-round team sprit that bought about a very creditable 2nd place on the night.

The post gala MacDonald’s proved a bigger challenge than the team selection but it was a richly deserved reward.

Thanks again to our poolside helpers and gala co coordinators without whom none of this would be possible.

Role on the counties…..
